The ERCOT Blackouts

From the Stacks with Cal Beisner, Ph.D. of The Cornwall Alliance. I only recently met Cal when he was in Oklahoma City promoting his new book and we ended up breaking bread together. I had not heard anyone approach the subject of energy and climate from a Biblical perspective before and it was intriguing, to say the least. Cal has lived all over the world, written dozens of books, testified before the US Senate and House of Representatives and presented a paper to a scholarly colloquium on climate change of the Pontifical Institute for Justice and Peace at the Vatican in Rome.

While we don’t get into some of the deep questions that were discussed over lunch - like the role of humans in dominion over the earth - we do get deep into the early lessons emulating from the ERCOT power failure. As a quick clarification: I kept referencing ERCOT failures in gigawatts (GW); the correct unit is megawatts (MW).
